Our homes are built differently from the ground up. By combining light-gauge steel construction with advanced building envelope design and precision factory manufacturing, we deliver homes that are stronger, more durable, and significantly more energy efficient than conventional wood-frame construction.
Some of the key differences include:
- Superior energy efficiency. Our homes are wrapped with continuous exterior insulation (outsulation) on the walls and roof, combined with a fully insulated floor system. This creates a highly efficient thermal envelope with minimal thermal bridging, resulting in lower energy consumption, greater comfort, and performance that typically meets BC Energy Step Code 4 or 5.
- No traditional vented attic. Because the roof assembly is fully insulated, we don't rely on a conventional attic space. This improves thermal performance and creates a more consistent indoor environment.
- Commercial-grade construction standards. Since our homes are built with steel framing, we use construction methods and materials more commonly found in commercial buildings. For example, our electrical systems are typically installed using commercial-grade wiring methods, providing an added level of durability and protection.
- Engineered structural systems. Every home is professionally engineered to meet the specific site conditions, including wind, snow, and seismic loads. Many conventional homes are designed under Part 9 of the BC Building Code; our structural systems are engineered to Part 4 standards, the same approach commonly used for commercial buildings.
- Precision factory manufacturing. Every steel component is CNC-manufactured to exact dimensions in a controlled environment, resulting in exceptional accuracy, reduced waste, improved quality control, and a faster, more predictable construction schedule.
The result is a home that is more energy efficient, structurally engineered, durable, and built to a higher standard, while still offering the flexibility and customization of a traditional custom home.
Note: while our structural systems are engineered using Part 4 principles, the overall home is designed to comply with the applicable requirements of the BC Building Code for its occupancy and use. This provides the benefit of a fully engineered structural system without changing the home's residential classification.
